1. Introduction

ReferralHub ("the Platform", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your choices regarding your information. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your display name, email address, and password. Your password is stored in hashed form and is never stored or accessible in plain text.
  • Referral Listings: When you submit a referral, we collect the title, category, referral URL, bonus description, expiration date, and any notes you provide. This information is publicly visible on the Platform.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Click Data: When a user clicks a referral link, we record the click event, including a timestamp and, if available, the referring source (e.g., the website or page the user came from). We do not collect IP addresses or device fingerprints for click tracking.
  • Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregated usage data such as page views, visit duration, and general geographic region. This data does not personally identify you. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and is privacy-focused by design.
  • Log Data: Our hosting provider (Vercel) may automatically collect standard server log information, including IP addresses, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps. This data is used for operational purposes (security, debugging) and is subject to Vercel's own privacy policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Platform;
  • Create and manage your account;
  • Display your referral listings publicly on the Platform;
  • Track click counts on referral listings to provide usage statistics;
  • Analyze aggregated usage patterns to improve the Platform;
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues;
  • Enforce our Terms of Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Public Content: Your display name, referral listings, and associated content are publicly visible to all visitors of the Platform. Do not include personal information in your listings that you do not wish to be public.
  • Service Providers: We use third-party service providers to host and operate the Platform (Vercel for hosting, Neon for database). These providers may process your data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Platform uses minimal cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Authentication Cookies: We use session cookies (or JWT tokens stored in cookies) to maintain your login state. These are essential for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled.
  • Vercel Analytics: Vercel Analytics is a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not track individual users across sites.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage (bcrypt), and secure database connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and referral listings for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform's services. Click data is retained for analytics purposes. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required by law to retain certain information, or where retention is necessary for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our Terms).

8. Your Rights and Choices

8.1 All Users

  • Access & Correction: You can view and update your account information through the Platform's dashboard.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at privacy@referrals-hub.com.
  • Listing Removal: You can delete your own referral listings at any time through the dashboard.

8.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You may request information about what personal data we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. If this changes, we will provide an opt-out mechanism.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

8.3 European Economic Area / UK Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Legal Basis: We process your data based on: (a) your consent (account creation); (b) performance of a contract (providing the service); and (c) our legitimate interests (analytics, security, fraud prevention).
  • Additional Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
  • International Transfers: Your data is processed in the United States. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your data to the U.S., which may have different data protection standards than your jurisdiction.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. The Platform contains links to third-party websites (referral links). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party website you visit through referral links on the Platform.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, provide additional notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
